Our Newport site based in Rogerstone is one of the largest and most advanced food manufacturing facilities in Europe, with over 1500 employees, turning over £140 million per year. This is a fantastic opportunity  to join this highly successful site.

You will report to the Department Team Manager and the shift pattern will be based on our 7-Day Fortnight with alternating weekends which consists of:

7 day fortnight, weekdays 07.00-18.00, Thursday 06.45-18.00, weekends 07.00-18.30

Role Responsibility

Accountabilities

  • All material requirements taken to line(s) in advance of the next production run.
  • All materials taken are to be weighed and delivered in qty’s as near as possible to those dictated on the line’s Work To Lists.
  • All materials taken and returned from their area’s are to be recorded on the Work To Lists provided.
  • WTL’s are to be 100% accurate to ensure successful input onto the Mercury system for succession planning.
  • All materials taken from the fridges must be returned as they were taken – i.e. clearly labeled and weighed and where possible, returned to where they were originally situated within the fridge.

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Good knowledge of products – what goes into what...
  • Have basic understanding of H&S, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, GMP, HACCP, Chemical Handling (5 basics)
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills in order to communicate effectively with team members, and complete factory paperwork – training given for paperwork completion.
  • Computer literate – Mercury – training given.
  • Ability to use pump-up truck and have increased level of Health and Safety in relation to this activity
  • Complete factory process documentation – work to lists, stocksheets.
  • Understanding of raw materials in order to batch up products
  • Understand and operate within product life system
  • Undertake accurate labelling.
  • Act as 2nd level problem solver e.g. identify problems with any particular components – i.e. communicate stock issues, such as OOL, On Hold stock etc.
  • To carry any additional tasks as reasonably requested.

Product quality

  • Ensuring customer specifications are followed at all times, enabling quality standards to be achieved.
  • If you notice any defects with the product/ material, then stop the line immediately and inform the line QA and team manager of the line

Health & safety

  • Ensure safe systems of work & work instructions are being followed at all times
  • Correct manual handling techniques are adhered to
