About RF Brookes

RF Brookes is part of the 2 Sisters food group, based at Rogerstone, Newport, we are a large food manufacturer creating high quality meals for our customers employing 1700 employees. As we continue to grow we have a number of vacancies which we hope will be of interest to you and offer a career path within food manufacturing.

You will report to the Department Team Manager and the shift pattern will be based on our 7-Day Fortnight with alternating weekends which consists of:

7 day fortnight, weekdays 06.00-17.00, Thursday 05.45-17.00, weekends 06.00-17.30

Role Responsibility

The Plant Operator will be a key member of the team, able to work under their own initiative to ensure full capacity is maintained throughout the area, whilst maintaining strict H&S guidelines. Especially able to understand plans and organize staff and process to maximize thru-puts.

Plant Ops will be expected to be able to set up and operate all of the equipment in the area.

HACCP documentation completion is required for the oriental processes including pre-start checks with faults & non-conformances will be raised to the senior op at the time of completion to ensure the area & processes remain compliant at all times.

Plant Ops will be responsible for stock control and ensuring correct stock rotation is implemented at all times.

Problem solving & correcting faults to maintain production efficiency will be a key part of the plant operator role.

 

Accountabilities

  • Ensuring customer specifications are followed at all times, enabling quality standards to be achieved.
  • If you notice any defects with the product/ material, then stop the line immediately and inform the line QA and team manager of the line

Health & safety

  • Ensure safe systems of work & work instructions are being followed at all times
  • Correct manual handling techniques are adhered to
  • Ensure all equipment in the area is set up and operated correctly, ensuring all Health & Safety controls are met and maintained
  • Ensure all documentation is completed to ensure due diligence and traceability is maintained
  • Ensure all HACCP documentation is fully completed
  • Ensures the line runs at the optimum run rate with minimum downtime and waste
  • Ensure GMP standards are met and maintained
  • Carry out all changeovers in a safe and timely fashion
  • To carry any additional tasks as reasonably requested.

If you can multitask focusing on today with an eye on tomorrow then you may have the skills we required.  As our company is customer focused so it is key that we understand the ever increasing quality standards and partner with the business to plan ahead in anticipation, therefore you will need to be self-motivated, detail focused, a great communicator and a good team player.

 

Knowledge of the food industry is an advantage but transferable skills are appreciated so if you have a can do attitude, attention to detail and a desire to ensure high quality your very welcome to apply as training will be provided to help you develop yourself and your career.

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:

Essential

  • Good knowledge of products – what goes into what...
  • Have basic understanding of H&S, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, GMP, HACCP, Chemical Handling (5 basics)
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills in order to communicate effectively with team members, and complete factory paperwork – training given for paperwork completion.
  • Computer literate – Mercury – training given.
  • Ability to use pump-up truck and have increased level of Health and Safety in relation to this activity
  • Complete factory process documentation – work to lists, stock sheets.
  • Understanding of raw materials in order to batch up products
  • Understand and operate within product life system
  • Undertake accurate labeling.
  • Act as 2nd level problem solver e.g. identify problems with any particular components – i.e. communicate stock issues, such as OOL, On Hold stock etc.
  • To carry any additional tasks as reasonably requested.
